Below are our most recent Announcements in full. You can also sign up to receive these Announcements on  email by contacting us.

NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS - will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 21. Yes, there will be cake!

HOLIDAY PARTY - The holiday party will be Thursday, December 15. Please put this on your calendar and save the date. There will be the famous exchange of gifts, white elephant or otherwise. It is suggested that the dollar limit for purchased gifts be $25. There will be the joy of selecting a wonderful gift, and the agony of have it stolen by some calculating rival. There will be a pot luck dinner and lots of fun for everyone. There may or may not be a little square dancing. Hopefully the date will permit most of the dancers to attend.

BRUSH-UP SESSIONS - If you are considering attending the Atlanta fly-in or our own fly-in, you might want to brush up on calls before the event. We are planning some brush up sessions on weekends early in January. Please sign up on Monday or Thursday evenings if you would like to participate Note - Even it you aren't planning on the Atlanta fly-in, but would like to brush up we'd love to have you join us. Depending on interest, we will have sessions for SSD (for graduates), Plus, Advanced, and possibly C-1.

THE FLY-IN IS A GO. - The Board and friends decided unanimously to hold the fly-in this coming February. To download a registration form, go to the Fly-in page. The theme will be "Flamboyantly Flamingo". Clear your calendar for President's Day weekend (Feb. 17-20). We will dance Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday in St. Pete. Then we will dance Monday at Fort de Soto Park.

Intro/Review/Warm-Up - The review sessions will continue this week. New dancers are encouraged to attend these sessions for a review of calls that have been taught. This session is a little slower paced, so it's a good warm up for the dancing that follows. This is held from 6:30 until 7:00, just before the regular Social Square Dancing begins. Angels are always needed and welcome.

MONDAY from 7:00 until 8:30 - Social Square Dancing - lessons and dancing. Join us, either as a student or as an angel and enjoy getting to know new dancers.

Plus Dancing - There will be a Plus workshop during the second part of the evening. From 8:30 to 9:30.

THIS THURSDAY: ADVANCED AND C-1 - The C-1 workshop is from 6:30 until 7:15. Advanced is from 7:20-9:00. There will be no dancing this Thursday because of Thanksgiving. The following Thursday we are expecting visitors from Strawberry Squares.

WHERE WE DANCE: The Garden Club of Saint Petersburg, is located at 500 Sunset Dr. S, Saint Petersburg, FL 33707. Lots of parking on the circle in front and on the lawn parking areas.

RESOURCES TO LEARN OR REVIEW SQUARE DANCE CALLS - For those of you who wish to review calls or get a head start on learning new calls, there are links to a couple fo teaching websites on the Suncoast Squares website: Go to and look for the ribbon menu on the top of the page. Select "More" on the right, and then select "Resources".

Links to two different websites may be helpful to you:

Taminations - the calls are listed and then illustrated by little emojis. Chose "SSD" if you are in the new class, or chose the appropriate level for other calls.

Saddlebrook Squares - There are lessons systematically going through the calls. The calls are illustrated by traditional square dancers, which makes the "girls" and "boys" more easily identified than they are in our club (smile). Find the square dance lessons in the middle of the page and look for Mainstream if you are in our new class (This is the SSD level we are learning plus a few more calls). You should be able to find all the calls that we have learned.

Some have asked about masks because of new CDC guidance. Please  wear a mask while dancing if you have not been vaccinated. If you have been vaccinated, please use your best judgment. We treasure every dancer. You are the reason we exist, and we want you to be safe and comfortable.

A NOTE ABOUT SECURITY - Please be sure your car is locked when you attend our dances.

A small group of Suncoast Squares meets at Lake Seminole Park on Fridays at 11:30 for a walk and then a picnic (bring your own food). We meet at Pavilion 9. Contact Alan or Sue if you have questions about this activity. We will meet for the walk in the park this Friday.

NEXT YEAR'S CONVENTION - will be held in Ottawa, Canada. If you are considering attending, now would be a good time to check to make sure that your passport will be valid for July of 2023.

MISSING EMAILS - If you didn't receive the weekly email, you won't see this item (I get it). But some members have not been receiving the emails. If they aren't opened for a while, the new website classifies these people as "inactive" and doesn't want to send them emails. If you know of someone who isn't receiving emails, we have a temporary workaround. Just let me know who they are. Thank you.

A few pictures from last Monday night.

Due to Covid restrictions, we have a limited amount of in-person events and postings. Stay tuned or join our email list to be informed of upcoming events.
