Due to Covid restrictions, we have a limited amount of in-person events and postings. Stay tuned or join our email list to be informed of upcoming events.

But do check out our calendar for what's happening virtually, in smaller outdoor groups and on Zoom.

A family of ...

THIS TUESDAY ON ZOOM at 7:00 PM

This week we'll get updates on how people are doing, healthwise and otherwise. Then we'll share our answers to the following questions:

   1. If you were signing up for a dating service, what are three things about yourself that you would emphasize? (We'll give you some pointers if you can't come up with three)

   2. Tell us something strange (or funny) about Florida?

   3. What is the worst trip you've ever been on?

We will also have a short discussion regarding what precautions to take when we resume dancing.

As always, you will have a chance to share how your week has gone and any updated news about how you are coping as well as time to share news about others. Your time is limited, but feel free to use a couple of minutes to catch us up. (We can always mute you if you get out of control! lol) As always, you are free to pass if you choose not to share.

If you have not participated and would like to, just send a request to suncoastsquares {@] gmail.com, and we will send you information on how to join the Zoom gathering..

UPDATES FROM DANCERS

It is with great sadness that we report that Betty Charie passed away on Friday, May 7. Betty danced with Suncoast Squares and also with Promenade Squares. She always had a bow in her hair and a smile on her face. Her hugs were as special as she was. We will miss Betty, but we are so glad that we knew her and danced with her on so many occasions.

News from Bernadette - Regarding her absence on Zoom - "I'm sorry since I got home I've been busier than a cranberry merchant. I had the black powder Rendezvous to contend with and then the fish are biting so we've been going fishing every night. And when I'm not fishing I've been going square dancing and regular dancing. Hope you guys are all doing good miss you tell everyone I said hello."

News from Rich - I hope you are well. I was wondering if there will be a zoom meeting this week. I hope there is.  I arrived in NY... what a road trip.

POOL PARTY AT JUDY'S - Wednesday, May 19

Please reserve the date on your calendar. We will meet at 4:00 (or later  for those of you who can't arrive at 4:00. This won't be for square dancing, but simply a social activity to touch base with friends and to reminisce about square dance activities, and share our anticipation for dancing which begins again in June! We'll share plans regarding food in next week's email.

If you haven't been to Judy's before but are interested in coming to this event, please email suncoastsquares [@] gmail.com for directions and parking information.

DANCING RESUMES on MONDAY, JUNE 21!

I am delighted to announce that we have located a new dance venue for Suncoast Squares. Thanks to Sarita for putting us in contact with the Garden Club of Saint Petersburg. It is a venue with lots of dance space, lots of parking, and lots of amenities. In addition, it is a venue we can afford. It even has a stage for the caller.

One change required by the new venue is our Mainstream/Plus night must move to Monday nights. Our Advanced and Challenge night will continue on Thursday nights. We sincerely hope that the change of nights will not affect many (hopefully, none) of you. Our first dance night in the new venue is scheduled for Monday, June 21.

We are indeed fortunate to have found a location that meets our needs and is welcoming to our group.

FRIDAY PICNIC AND WALK (Recurring)

Except for Fridays when we meet at Judy's, a small group of Suncoast Squares meets at Lake Seminole Park on Fridays at 11:30 for a walk and then a picnic (bring your own food). We meet at Pavilion 9. Contact Alan or Sue if you have questions about this activity. We WILL meet for the walk in the park this Friday.

WHAT WILL IT BE LIKE WHEN WE DANCE REGULARLY AGAIN?

We will be taking precautions to stay safe. The news in the next several weeks will partially determine what precautions will be necessary.

SHARE ON WEEKLY EMAIL - If you have anything you wish to share with the club, please forward it to me and I will include it in the weekly email. Also, if you need help with anything that other club members could assist you with, please let us know.

Please stay safe. focus on helping others and also on accomplishing some goal(s) in your own life.

Big hugs to all,

Dan
