------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW CLASSES - Do you have fun friends who might enjoy learning to square dance with us? There will be an Open House Monday, September 11, and another Monday, September 18. Please think of ways you might help advertise these Open Houses and of friends you might invite to join us.

BOARD MEETING - Sunday afternoon, September 24 at 3:00 at Blase Smith's home. Address to come. Any member is welcome to attend.

NEXT POOL PARTY/SPLASH AT JUDY'S - We are invited back to Judy's for an afternoon pot luck and pool party Sunday, Oct. 8, from 4:00 until 7:00. Be sure and add this to your calendar. Hopefully, many of you will be able to join us and enjoy the pool and a social gathering. We're hoping for weather that is conducive to swimming and lounging in and by the pool.

"SAY GAY SASHAY" - Our own fly-in will take place Feb 16-19 at the Sunshine Center in downtown St. Pete and at Ft. DeSoto State Park. Registration forms are now available for download in the "Annual Fly-In" section of our website. Please print out a form and register for this year's event. Great Callers - Vic Ceder, Chris Phillips, and Scotty Sharrer. We'll share more information in the next few weeks.
THE 2023 IAGSDC (International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs) - This coming year's Annual Convention will be held much closer to us, in Durham, North Carolina. Several of us have already registered. Please consider attending and talk to anyone who attended a convention previously for information about the event. And make hotel reservations soon. There are multiple hotel options. The dancing will be in the Civic Center

MONDAY, from 7:00 until 9:30 - "OPEN HOUSE FOR NEW DANCERS" - Invite your fun friends to join us for this introduction to square dancing for new dancers. We'd love to meet some new people who are interested in learning to dance with us. And please make a point of meeting any new folks who join us to give square dancing a try. J.R. will be calling for this Intro.

INTRO/REVIEW/WARM UP THIS WEEK - The review session will not be held this week. We'll resume this session after two weeks of Open House..
THIS THURSDAY: ADVANCED AND C-1 - The C-1 class is from 6:30 to 7:30, and A1 class is from 7:35 until 9:00, or as long as we last. Mike Shagina will be calling.

WHERE WE DANCE: The Garden Club of Saint Petersburg, is located at 500 Sunset Dr. S, Saint Petersburg, FL 33707. Lots of parking on the circle in front and on the lawn parking areas.

RESOURCES TO LEARN OR REVIEW SQUARE DANCE CALLS - For those of you who wish to review calls or get a head start on learning new calls, there are links to a couple of teaching websites on the Suncoast Squares website: Go to suncoastsquares.com and look for the ribbon menu on the top of the page. Select "More" on the right, and then select "Resources".
Links to two different websites may be helpful to you:
Taminations - the calls are listed and then illustrated by little emojis. Chose "SSD" if you are in the new class, or chose the appropriate level for other calls.
Saddlebrook Squares - There are lessons systematically going through the calls. The calls are illustrated by traditional square dancers, which makes the "girls" and "boys" more easily identified than they are in our club (smile). Find the square dance lessons in the middle of the page and look for Mainstream if you are in our new class (This is the SSD level we are learning plus a few more calls). You should be able to find all the calls that we have learned.

A NOTE ABOUT SECURITY - Please be sure your car is locked when you attend our dances.

FRIDAY WALK
A small group of Suncoast Squares meets at Lake Seminole Park on Fridays at 11:30 for a walk and then a picnic (bring your own food). We meet at Pavilion 9. Contact Alan or Sue if you have questions about this activity. We will meet for the walk in the park this Friday.
