A family of ...

THIS TUESDAY ON ZOOM at 7:00 PM

This week we'll get updates on how people are doing, healthwise and otherwise. Then we'll share our answers to the following questions:

   1. What is your favorite joke?

   2. What do you do to beat stress?

   3. What’s the longest time, in a single stretch, that you’ve ever been in a car?

As always, you will have a chance to share how your week has gone and any updated news about how you are coping as well as time to share news about others. Your time is limited, but feel free to use a couple of minutes to catch us up. (We can always mute you if you get out of control! lol) As always, you are free to pass if you choose not to share.

We'll also take time to check to see how many have been vaccinated, or have appointments to be vaccinated. This number has been increasing rapidly recently.

Note that the Zoom link will ask for your permission for both audio and video components. Allow, or actively select, these when you join us. You will have to turn on your video after you join the call (the icon should be on the lower left hand side of your screen when you enter).

Also note that the link to zoom is not always the same. Each time I set up a new series of meetings, Zoom assigns a new link. So be looking for the email with the link on Tuesday. I will try to send it about mid-day. If for some reason you have requested the link previously and don't seem to be receiving the emails, please check your junk file. Or reply to this email and I'll add your email address again. If you have not participated and would like to, just send a request by email to suncoastsquares [@] gmail.com.

LOOKING FOR A NEW VENUE FOR SUNCOAST SQUARES

Most of you know that the KOP church will no longer be available for our use for square dancing . We are currently looking for a new place to dance when dancing resumes. An ideal venue would be reasonably priced, have space for six squares (we can dream), be centrally located, have a good dance floor, and be available two nights a week. If you have suggestions, or if you would like to work on scouting out locations, please share on Zoom or by email.

OUTING LAST WEDNESDAY AT FORT DE SOTO PARK

Several square dancers met last Wednesday for an outing at Fort De Soto Park. It was a good chance to catch up with others and also to soak up some sun.

INTEREST IN DISC GOLF (FRISBEE GOLF) AT AZALEA PARK?

Robin has discovered a Disc Golf (frisbee golf) course at Azalea Park and has suggested this as a possible activity for us. Please let us know if you would be interested in this. You may let Robin know on Tuesday's Zoom call or in person or by email or at Saturday's dance.

THE NEXT GREAT SPLASH  IS YET TO BE SCHEDULED -  The weather is getting warmer, so this activity is becoming a possibility again. We'll let you know when we are heading back to Judy's for a walk and splash. This Friday we will meet at Lake Seminole Park for our regular picnic and walk. See the information below on the Friday walk.

Thanks to Judy for sharing her pool and hospitality with us.

FRIDAY WALK -  Except for Fridays when we meet at Judy's, a small group of Suncoast Squares meets at Lake Seminole Park on Fridays at 11:30 for a walk and then a picnic (bring your own food). We meet at Pavilion 9. Contact Alan or Sue if you have questions about this activity. We WILL meet for the walk in the park this Friday.

WHEN WILL WE DANCE REGULARLY AGAIN? -  Of course this is a question that we would all like answered. As the Covid cases continue in a steady pattern and folks gradually begin to get vaccinated, we are following guidance from the CDC and public officials. I know that many of you spend your evenings practicing your square dance "moves" and are anxious to show them off, but we are still mostly in a holding pattern. Several of our members have either received vaccine shots or are scheduled to do so. So hopefully the day that we will dance again is getting a little closer.

ALL JOIN HANDS, a non-profit group that has been established specifically to support gay square dancing, is collecting contributions to help clubs recover from the current lull in dancing (called "The Covid Relief Fund") once we are all able to resume dancing. There will be a need for money to help clubs who are not as financially secure as ours is. If you are interested in contributing to this fund, let me know and I will pass on the information.

SHARE ON WEEKLY EMAIL - If you have anything you wish to share with the club, please forward it to me and I will include it in the weekly email. Also, if you need help with anything that other club members could assist you with, please let us know.

Please stay safe. focus on helping others and also on accomplishing some goal(s) in your own life.

Big hugs to all,

Dan
